Richard Dawkins Claims Religion Now 'Irrelevant' in UK

A poll instigated by atheist Richard Dawkins' foundation has claimed that almost three quarters of British Christians believe religion should have no role in crafting public policy, while almost two-thirds believe same-sex couples should receive every right that heterosexual couples are given.

I disagree with this. Religion is totally relevant to things that are going on in the UK as well as other parts of the world.

If only it was irrelevant everywhere.

Hahaha... Richard Dawkins has been claiming that religion is "irrelevant" for just about his whole life. I've read his books, and you know what I think? He hasn't been around that long. And the whole Modern movement stating that religion is dying, is IRRELEVANT. Wake up, we live in a PostModern world, and an educated mind states educated statistics. He doesn't back his statistics up. Did he get them from a census? He says, "Prove it," but I'd love to say that right back at him!

All you have to do is look around at this world to realize that there's a spiritual awakening like never before. The work of gurus, shamans, starchildren & crystalchildren & indo aura readers only proves it. It's not just Christians that are feeling the increase in spiritual activity. The world is stirring. The supernatural is VERY natural. Probably more real than the things that we can see or touch. The true question is, if Richard Dawkins didn't blind himself so badly to the reality behind our reality, he'd be blown away. The poor man is so limited.
If you've never met Jesus in prayer, HEARD His voice, FELT His heart, seen the signs of the times, or done any kind of spiritual warfare against the principalities and powers of darkness for the sake of God's kingdom, it's pretty easy to turn a blind eye to the real reality out there. And RELIGION provides a structure and order to our encounters with the supernatural that outsiders just don't understand.
I have a hard time believing anyone who hasn't experienced it. Religion or anything else.

I'm not fan of Dawkins, but he's right, religion should have no role in public policy. Too bad America is full of religious extremists and can't follow the UKs lead.

I wouldn't want to follow UK's lead. If you believe in God, He belongs everywhere, even in public policy.

Since God isn't the one dictating public policy, his followers are, I want religion as far away from it as possible. I do not trust God's followers to make decisions on his behalf. And I speak as one of his followers.

Generally the people who want religion forced on public policy are the ones with the scariest, most extremist views.

No thank you. Until God himself personally and publicly decides policy, I will leave policy to secular institutions.

It's always the Christians that start threads with quotes from Dawkins. Most atheists really couldn't care less what Dawkins says, and yet the Christians care a great deal.

It's very ironic.

Mr. Dawkins is either forgetting about British Muslims or pretending they don't exist.
