Arnold Schwarzenegger and wife Maria Shriver have decided to live apart.
Hasta la vista, baby.
Maria Shriver has moved out of the house she shared with former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the couple now are deciding whether to terminate their 25-year marriage.
They confirmed the separation in a joint statement released Monday.
Schwarzenegger, 63, and Shriver, 55, said after ?a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion and prayer,? they decided to live apart while they work on the future of their relationship.
The couple, who married in 1986 and have four children, acknowledge that they?re both going through a ?time of great personal and professional transition.?
They said they will parent their kids together.
?They are the light and the center of both of our lives. We consider this a private matter and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment. We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public,? they said.
In 2003 the Los Angeles Times reported that Schwarzenegger, an actor turned politician, had a history of groping women, but his wife rose to his defense.
The couple had been on separate tracks since Schwarzenegger left office in January.
Shriver, a member of the Kennedy dynasty whose father Sargent died earlier this year, has worked on her women?s website and promoted causes like Alzheimer?s research.
The former NBC News correspondent spoke openly about the uncertainty she felt about the future.
?It is so stressful to not know what you?re doing next,? Shriver said in a March 28 YouTube video to supporters.
Shriver, who appeared without her wedding ring, told viewers, ?I?d like to hear from other people in transition.?
?How did you get through it?? she asked. ?What were three things that enabled you to get through your transition??
Schwarzenegger has been on the speech circuit and pursuing various entertainment projects.
Hoping for a showbiz comeback, he has signed on for another installment in the ?Terminator? series.
